Beatitude House will receive $35,500 to improve its ability to deliver services through better use of technology.  The funding will be used to develop a streamlined system for data management as well as to develop the organization's ability to work online.

The Boys & Girls Club of Youngstown had previously received support from the Foundation to hire a development professional.  This year the Foundation provided $28,590 to the organization to continue this effort.  The group is working toward becoming more sustainable by developing its ability to reach out to the community.

The Burdman Group, Inc. will receive a grant of $60,000 to implement a holistic program for low-income people to achieve self-sufficiency through employment, job retention, career advancement, family and financial stability.

A grant of $39,921 will assist the Early Childhood Resource Center to provide mentoring and education to child care center administrators in the Mahoning Valley as they seek to improve their center's quality.

The Foundation will support the Etruscan Press, an independent non-profit literary press with a $15,000 grant for the position of an Outreach Coordinator who will develop literary arts programming for identified at-risk students in the Mahoning Valley, focusing on the Early College Program at YSU. 

The Board awarded $10,000 to HAPPY HOMES, the Trumbull County membership organization for family day care professionals to develop a comprehensive organizational planning process.

The Action Plan to End Child Lead Poisoning in Mahoning County will make further progress toward that goal with a grant of $10,000 to reduce the number of rental housing units in Youngstown with confirmed cases of lead poisoning.

The Foundation authorized $50,000 to Planned Parenthood of Northeast Ohio to focus on improving its facilities in Youngstown and Warren.

The United Methodist Community Center with its long history of providing service to the East side of Youngstown will receive $28,115 to support an in-depth strategic planning effort.

Western Reserve Housing Authority will utilize a grant award in the amount of $30,000 for the purchase of educational and building supplies for its youth and community development program, YouthBuild.  

In order to support the group's efforts toward sustainability, the Foundation will provide $60,000 to the YMCA of Trumbull County.  The group is now in the process of intensive efforts to determine what type of services it will offer to the community in the future.

The Youngstown Hearing and Speech Center is the recipient of $25,000 to support a strategic planning process to identify and respond to community needs and organizational issues.  The group will make efforts to determine how they can best provide services in the coming years.

To combat the scourge of predatory payday lending, the Foundation will provide $25,000 to a statewide effort chaired by the Coalition on Homelessness.  This group is gathering support to encourage Ohio voters to vote YES on State Issue 5 which will be on the ballot on Nov. 4.  The effort supports the law passed by the legislature to limit usurious lending practices.

In order to support access to public transportation in Mahoning County, the Foundation will provide $10,000 to the Friends of Transit campaign.  This is an effort to encourage Mahoning County voters to permit a ¼% sales tax to fund WRTA.  This item will also be on the ballot on Nov. 4.
