COVID-19 Funding

A message from the Board and Staff of the Raymond John Wean Foundation:

We’re making our best efforts to adjust to a rapidly evolving situation. As a result of research, observations and conversations with grantees and peers, we would like to share information about immediate next steps in our grantmaking.

In order to be most responsive to our community during these challenging times, the Raymond John Wean Foundation has suspended its regularly scheduled grantmaking programs. Instead, we will devote our resources to collective community efforts. Specifically, supporting grassroots groups and nonprofit organizations standing with those of our community who are most deeply impacted by the COVID-19 crisis.

The Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley, the Raymond John Wean Foundation and the Youngstown Foundation have created the Mahoning Valley COVID-19 Crisis Relief Grants for Nonprofits. This common application allows grantees to submit the same request to any one of the foundations or all three at the same time. Thus, simplifying the application process and expediting funding decisions.

Applicants should keep in mind that each entity has its own priority areas and guidelines; therefore, applicants can submit requests for immediate, acute needs and/or long-term impacts of the outbreak and recovery.
